CHILD SAFETY SEAT INSTALLATION

CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY LAW

Under NJ law, Children under 8 years of age must be secured in a child passenger restraint system or a booster seat.  An amended version of this law went into effect on September 1, 2015, which is detailed as follows:

CHILD SEAT INSTALLATION AND SAFETY CHECKS

Often times, first-time parents or caregivers are uncomfortable with the installation of a child seat.  In many instances, it has been found that a large percentage of child seats are not installed properly and additional help is needed to get the installation correct.  To assist with this, Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST’s) are trained to help parents and caregivers.

Lt. David Terpstra, Sgt. Conrad Jimenez, Sgt. Robert Grabowski, and Ptl. Kevin Peirsel are CPST's and can assist Bloomingdale Borough residents requiring help with the installation or inspection of a child seat.  Please call Police Dispatch phone number (973) 838-0158 to make an appointment.

It is also important to note that you must have the vehicle and car seat manuals with you and you need to have attempted to install the car seat prior to arriving for your appointment.
